Garden Share WG April 2018 meeting
We, as organic gardeners, are all aware of the importance of bees and that their existence is being challenged by many factors including modern agricultural methods. Our guest speakers, Chris and Lisa Layman from Fox Farm Apiary, are doing their best to meet that challenge and help to preserve and keep these miracle pollinators flourishing.
This is from Chris and Lisa “ we do have a slideshow to accompany our presentation and will bring a projector and screen to the meeting. All we require is access to an electrical outlet. As we discussed, we will have product available for purchase after the meeting.”
Their website is: https://www.foxfarmapiary.com Please check it out.
Garden Share WG March 2018 Meeting
The next Woodstock Transition Garden Share Meeting will be Wednesday March 14, 2018, 6-8 PM at the home of Dan Levy in, Woodstock, NY. It will be a POTLUCK.
Our guest speaker is Pamela Boyce Simms, who is known since the Woodstock NY Transition and the Garden Share Group were launched 5 years ago. She will share her extensive knowledge of the climate and energy issues that affect us all and we as a group strongly believe in.
Energy Group’s Proposed Project
With increased interest in expanding the Woodstock waste water system to the town’s hamlet western region (Bearsville Flats) comes a vision for a neighborhood energy project serving the homes and businesses in this region with renewable heating and hot water.
The opportunity is to begin a feasibility study of co-developing the two projects simultaneously, with cost savings for both. Grant funding of the energy system is possible. A result for those who live and work in the western hamlet region will be lower heating costs over time, with little to no energy price swings that’s typical with oil and propane supplies. The waste water system will void the need to maintain and periodically replace septic fields. The projects combined will be beneficial for the neighborhood.
