This is a reminder about our Garden Share Meeting on Wednesday April 11th, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Toni Wiedenbacher’s home and Garden, 297 Mead Mt Road, Woodstock, NY.

**This is a note from Toni:
“I have watercress to share. If you have moving water on your property or near by you’re invited to take some home to grow. Bring a pail. or some other container when you come on Wednesday.
 
My address is 297 Meads Mountain Road.  From the village green you turn on to Rock City Road .and go past the cemetery. Keep going until you. cross  Glasco Turnpike.  The road now is now called Meads Mountain Road. Continue up the hill almost to the top where the K.T.D. Buddhist Monastery. Two blue flowered  mailboxes on the left mark my driveway.which is shared with then Hausmans. As you turn into the driveway take a quick right to my house  My telephone number is 845-679-7281
     I don’t have any specific topic , but it might be nice to get each others names and addresses , also contact information and as much information on the various community and special and  gardens around our area, and what they are doing this year including Whirligig. the long Spoon Cooperative etc.Also we could share our own gardening plans and experiences and  how we can help each other .

Garden Share Meeting 4-13-16 David Gross’s House

Hi Everyone.
Our first spring meeting will be Wednesday April 13, 2016 6-8 pm at the home and garden of David Gross.

Below is information from David about the meeting:

Address is 24 Wardwell Ln. Directions: take route 212 E. towards Saugerties. We are the street after Plochman Lane, a left turn off of 212. We are the third house on the right, the one with all the firewood on the lawn. Please park on the street and bring food and dishes for a potluck. We will need either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.

I want to show everyone my irrigation system. I will have it hooked up by the time of the meeting, although it may not be actually running, due to cold weather. Regardless, everyone will be able to see exactly how it works. Everyone can also look at and admire my solar array.

GS meeting Thursday, March 10th at 7:00PM at the Mt. View Studio

The GS Group will meet Thursday, March 10th at the Mt View Studio in Woodstock at 7pm to watch and discuss the permaculture film “Inhabit”.
If you want to meet on the 9th as well to order seeds, please communicate directly with Lala.

GS Meeting Feb 10th at 6:00PM at Dan Levy’s Passive Solar house

Hi GS Members,

Thank you to Dan Levy for opening his home to us. I have heard alot about his Passive house so I am looking forward to meeting there and seeing it. I think it will be especially interesting to anyone who owns a home and wants to upgrade to a more energy efficient situation or is building a home or a “tiny house”.

The next Garden Share POTLUCK meeting will be February 10, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Dan Levy’s Passive House under construction at 44 Easton Lane, Woodstock. The structures are built with autoclaved aerated concrete, a lightweight pre-cast masonry product. The project meets the Passive House energy standard without foam insulation. Insulation products are Foamglas ™ (expanded glass), rigid mineral wool, and cellulose. We will meet in the apartment above the garage, and we can tour the house. The apartment is a full flight upstairs; the  apartment entrance door faces Easton Lane. 


Easton Lane is immediately west of the Woodstock School of Art off route 212, at a curve in the road. 
From Woodstock, drive 0.8 miles east on rt. 212 after the intersection of rt. 375; turn left on Easton Lane. Continue 0.2 miles to number 44 on the right. 
From Saugerties, drive west on rt. 212 and turn right on Easton Lane, immediately after the Woodstock School of Art. 
The main driveway is before the house; a rougher driveway is after the house. There is a builder’s sign for the Woodstock Passive House and a for sale sign.

Garden Share Meeting Wed. Jan 13th

Hi GS Group,

Our next meeting is Wednesday January 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Joan Apter’s home.  It will be a potluck. We have invited members of the Longspoon Collective. They are responsible for many local projects including the Saugerties Food Share that some of us have attended. We are excited to hear more specifics about the great things they are doing. We hope to  be inspired by them to duplicate some of them in Woodstock, while continuing to support their projects.

8/10 of a mile from the junction of 375 and mill hill road. pass library, pass lashers funeral home. at the next street, turn right onto orchard lane. make your immediate left which is the continuation of orchard lane. do not go straight, that is orchard lane north and you will end up at the library!
(orchard lane is a horseshoe, coming out on tinker street two places: at the upstate cinema and after lashers funeral home.)
i am the 4th house on the left. #29 on mailbox. white bungalow with turquoise steps. park in driveway until full and then on street.
from bearsville:
immediately after the woodstock post office, left on orchard lane. go around the bend. #29 is on your right.

 

 

Garden Share to meet Wednesday December 9th

The next Garden Share Meeting will be Wednesday December 9, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the home of Melody Newcombe at 117 Miller Road, Mt Tremper. Her Tel. # is 845-853-3761. It is a POTLUCK.
 
Previous meetings at Melody’s have always been fun and full of conversation and gardening information.
 
This is from Melody describing the meeting:
 
“I have a huge reference horticultural library of every aspect of farming and gardening from grains, vegetable, fruit, herb, ferns, ground covers, trees and shrubs and  annual and perennial flower propagation and growing, plus info on soils, amendments, composting, mulches, landscape design, greenhouse production, plant diseass, injurious pests and beneficials. 

We could have a Q & A or delve into specific topics members want.”

Directions:
From Woodstock take either Wittenberg Rd or Rt 212 to 4 corners where they meet in Mt. Tremper. Take Plank Rd about 200 ft , go over the Beaverkill Bridge and take the first right onto Miller Rd (just before Zen Center). Go 1/2 mi to Melody’s on left. Cedar sided house with new deck, dk red trim and lots of windows.

Meeting will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, November 11, at Toni Wiedenbacher’s home–297 Meads Mountain Rd. Woodstock.  Toni ask to please CarPoll–Park in the Community Center on Rock City Rd and drive up together.

11th Annual Film and Discussion Series / Event 1

The Woodstock Film & Discussion Series will launch its 11th Annual Season on Monday  January 30th at 7pm. The 11th season will begin with a virtual screening of the stirring, award-winning film “Seeding Change: The Power of Conscious Commerce.”
