We will have our next meeting at the home and garden of Jana Smith on Wednesday September 9, 2015 from 6-8 pm. It will be a POTLUCK.
Jana is creating a new “garden/pleasure spot” that she would love to have our input in relation to further design.
She would like you to bring your own chairs.
It would be most appreciated if anyone has extra garlic for Jana to plant.
Please bring food and ideas.
Her address is 15 Cottonwood Lane which is the first street after the bridge off of John Joy Road. Her telephone # is 684-5135.
thanks

In August 2015 Woodstock Transition received notice that town officials support the informal formation of an Active Transportation Advisory Council. This group of volunteer Woodstock residents would be the beginning of the long effort to building recommendations and a plan, which would eventually be incorporated into Woodstock’s Comprehensive Plan, for safe pedestrian and bicycling right-of-ways, clearly marked shared lanes and the many infrastructure elements of 3rd mode transportation.
The membership structure of this Active Transportation Advisory Council will be made up of Core Members, Supporting Members, and Advisory Members. The Active Transportation Advisory Council is not a working group of Woodstock Transition and its members will have affiliations from various Woodstock-based volunteer organizations. The initial meeting is tentatively scheduled to occur in mid September.

Solarize: A community education and group purchasing program that makes Solar simple to understand and more affordable.
As of mid-August, over 120 households have enrolled in the Solarize Woodstock program. Remember, the more people commit to going solar, the lower the cost gets! All contracts must be signed by November 15th, when Solarize Woodstock Program ends.
Hi GS Members,
Woodstock Transition is partnering to bring the Solarize community campaign to the Woodstock area!
Our launch event will be on Monday, July 13th, at 7PM, at the Woodstock Town Hall. Stay tuned for more to follow.

I want to do two things for the meeting at my house. First, I will show everyone my array of rain barrels. I have collector barrels and distribution barrels and they are all hooked up with a hose system. It’s very interesting and I think the group would like to see how it works.
Second, for those who are interested in creating their own rain barrels, I am willing to do a hands-on demonstration of how to build one. If anyone is interested, they have to do two things. First, they have to have an empty plastic barrel of some kind. Perhaps a food storage barrel, or something else like that. Second, they have to let me know, so that I can have Vince, at Woodstock Hardware, put together a set of the hardware they will need to create a rain barrel.
My phone number and directions to my house are below. I need at least two days notice if you want to construct your own rain barrel. Please let me know if you need any further information.
My phone number is 845.679.0062 and my address is 24 Wardwell Lane, Woodstock, NY.
Directions are pretty simple.
It is off of Rte 212. Coming from Woodstock it is the first left turn after Gallo’s. Coming from Saugerties it is the last right turn before Gallo’s.
