Guest Speaker: Dona Crawford from Cornell Cooperative Ulster County.
Dona Crawford has been the Master Gardener coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Ulster County for the past twelve years. She lives in a pine forest and is slowly converting some of it into woodland gardens. She will be talking about Cornell Resources.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday September 14th from 6-8pm at Eeo Stubblefield’s Home and Garden. It will be a POTLUCK dinner.
This will be our second meeting at her garden. She will give us a tour and will offer a new perspective as we approach the fall.
She will share her knowledge on permaculture design, the five permaculture zones, making compost and making soil.
After dinner, there will be a fire and we will roast marshmallows.

The birds are singing and the gardens are blooming. It must be summer in Woodstock.
The meeting is on Wednesday July 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm at the home and garden of David and Joy Gross.
ANDREW FAUST, who has presented for our group twice before, and had received spectacular reviews, will be coming back to Woodstock.
This time, he will be giving us very practical, hands-on Permaculture information at David and Joy’s property that we can all take back to our own gardens.
Permaculture for Home and GardenIn this talk participants will learn Permaculture principles as applied in temperate homes and gardens. We will discuss beyond organic gardening, building with local natural materials, ecological lawn, meadow, stream and wetland care, orchards and forest gardens, composting, off-the-grid water systems, and domestic and wild animal management.
Bring questions about your garden and home and be prepared to learn about ideas that can improve your quality of life, simplify your needs, and increase your family time. By cooperating with ecological processes you create real abundance and diversity in your life.
Andrew Faust has been teaching about permaculture for nearly two decades, in rural settings along the East Coast and in Brooklyn, where he adapted his ideas to urban living through the Center for Bioregional Living. He has lived off the grid for eight years in West Virginia, where he designed and built a permaculture-inspired homestead including a 1,600 square foot straw-bale house.

Following a POTLUCK DINNER, the film, “Inhabit, A Permaculture Perspective”, recently shown in March by the Woodstock NY Transition and its co sponsors, Woodstock Land Conservancy, Bioneers and Earth Guardians NY during their 2016 Winter Movie Series is being re-shown in the comfort of David and Joy Gross’s home on their large screen tv. The movie received rave reviews from those who attended, and our own Eeo Stubblefield purchased the DVD.

Inhabit (92 min) introduces permaculture (a combination of permanent+culture, and permanent+agriculture), an integrated design system that is modeled on nature. Inhabit presents an array of projects and people (including some familiar faces), and it translates the diversity of permaculture into something that can be understood by all. For those familiar, it will be a call to action and a glimpse into what is possible. For those unfamiliar, it will be an introduction to a new way of being and a new way of relating to the Earth. For everyone, it will be a reminder that humans are capable of being planetary healing forces.

“I have watercress to share. If you have moving water on your property or near by you’re invited to take some home to grow. Bring a pail. or some other container when you come on Wednesday.
My address is 297 Meads Mountain Road. From the village green you turn on to Rock City Road .and go past the cemetery. Keep going until you. cross Glasco Turnpike. The road now is now called Meads Mountain Road. Continue up the hill almost to the top where the K.T.D. Buddhist Monastery. Our first spring meeting will be Wednesday April 13, 2016 6-8 pm at the home and garden of David Gross.

We are the third house on the right, the one with all the firewood on the lawn. Please park on the street and bring food and dishes for a potluck. We will need either indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.
I want to show everyone my irrigation system. I will have it hooked up by the time of the meeting, although it may not be actually running, due to cold weather. Regardless, everyone will be able to see exactly how it works. Everyone can also look at and admire my solar array.
