With increased interest in expanding the Woodstock waste water system to the town’s hamlet western region (Bearsville Flats) comes a vision for a neighborhood energy project serving the homes and businesses in this region with renewable heating and hot water.
The opportunity is to begin a feasibility study of co-developing the two projects simultaneously, with cost savings for both. Grant funding of the energy system is possible. A result for those who live and work in the western hamlet region will be lower heating costs over time, with little to no energy price swings that’s typical with oil and propane supplies. The waste water system will void the need to maintain and periodically replace septic fields. The projects combined will be beneficial for the neighborhood.
